Abby Emerson
Founder & CEO
Abby has spent more than a decade working at the intersection of school athletics and technology. A former three-sport varsity athlete and Division I Lacrosse All-American at the University of Notre Dame, Abby's career has included work on New York City's Olympic bid, Ketchum PR's sports group, teaching and coaching, and 11+ years with 8to18 Digital (now Snap Mobile). She founded K12 Sports Tech in 2022 to bridge the gap between athletic directors and the companies serving them — helping schools find better-fit solutions while giving vendors the insight and relationships to serve school athletics well.
Abby lives in the western suburbs of Chicago with her husband and three daughters.
Alec Brown
Managing Partner & COO
Alec brings experience across school athletics, education, nonprofit leadership, partnerships, and business development. He began his career as a teacher before serving as an assistant principal and athletic director at Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy in Chicago, where he helped build the athletic program from the ground up. He later served as Executive Director of Beyond Sports Foundation, developing partnerships with organizations including Jordan Brand, Gatorade, CDW, the NFL, Life Time, and Wintrust. Alec joined K12 as a managing partner in 2023 and helps lead strategy, partnerships, and growth. He holds degrees from Michigan State and Northwestern.
Alec lives in metro Detroit with his wife and daughter.
Megan Phee Brown
VP of Partnerships
Megan serves as Vice President of Partnerships at K12 Sports Tech, bringing a track record of building enterprise sales teams and strategic alliance programs across five startups in both the US and European markets. She seeks to drive business outcomes and results for sports tech and sports service providers, working with schools, athletic programs, and technology partners to expand access to innovative solutions for student-athletes. Megan's international experience shapes her approach to scaling partnerships and go-to-market strategy, and she is passionate about advancing technology's role in youth athletics.
Outside of work, Megan is an avid runner and concert-goer, mom to 7-year-old Isabella, and always planning her next European getaway.
Brian Daniels
AD Think Tank Member Growth & Engagement Director
Brian is a Maine-certified PK–12 Building Administrator and Athletic Director. A former Division III football and lacrosse student-athlete, he has served as a teacher, coach, strength and conditioning leader, and high school lacrosse official, giving him a broad perspective on school athletics. Brian currently serves as an Assistant Principal and Director of Athletics, where he oversees athletic programming while supporting school-wide initiatives. At K12, he helps grow and engage the AD Think Tank community, bringing firsthand understanding of the challenges athletic leaders face and the resources they need to better serve their programs and student-athletes.
Brian lives with his wife in rural Maine and enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
Pete Emerson
Communications & Customer Success
Pete leads marketing and communications at K12 Sports Tech, bringing more than 15 years of experience in customer success, consulting, communications, and technology. Before joining K12, he spent more than a decade working closely with customers and organizations to improve engagement, strengthen relationships, and help teams get more value from technology. At K12 Sports Tech, Pete oversees communications across the company's work with athletic directors and sports technology partners, with a focus on making those connections clear, useful, and engaging.
Pete holds a master's degree in communications from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in English from Colby College. He enjoys running, music, and spending time outdoors and lives in the Chicago area with his wife and three daughters.
